You bought what??!!...... :)

I have been known to buy some kooky stuff at times. I'm thinkin this last weeks Sweet Salvage
purchase might take the cake:)
Look at hubby trying to force a smile while carrying
my latest goodie into the house.
Look. at. her!!! She's an old dress form, sized XL
and I LOVE her!!

Look at her beautifully loved neck and finial:)
The minute I saw her, I was smitten:)

She has such a granny feel to her. I imagine her voice sounds like Mrs. Doubtfire....
Now Dorie! get yourself in that kitchen and make some
peach crisp!!
Peach Crisp
3 Fresh peaches, sliced ( I used frozen 'cause that's what I had!)
2/3 Cup packed brown sugar
1/2 Cup all purpose flour (I used gluten free and it still worked!)
1/2 Cup oats
3/4 tsp. Cinnamon (I use more because I love me some cinnamon!)
3/4 tsp. Nutmeg
*sometimes I add a little pumpkin pie spice:)
1/3 Cup butter, softened

Heat oven to 375'. Arrange peaches in buttered ramekins.
Mix remaining ingredients and sprinkle over peaches.

Bake for about 30 min. or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Judging by the pic, I could have baked mine longer:(
Top this with some ice cream or whipped creme.
...or just shovel it piping hot
into your impatient mouth and burn your tongue!!
Yeah, that just happened:(

  1. She is totally Mrs.Doubtfire! Love it- and I adore peach crisp. Summer Yum!

  2. That is hysterical! I love her! I love Sweet too, I always find the most random things there. This month was a wooden pig bowl that I totally didn't need but totally had to have. Can't wait til the next event. ~Rosanne

  3. Ok, you won! I was not expecting that....I got a good chuckle.

  4. I loooove her. She reminds me of the Wii Dance song (my grandkids know it's my fav) "Big Girls Are Beautiful"!

  5. She would look great wearing a vintage apron.

  6. Oh, she's sweet! I have her sister and after I unwrapped her extra padding (added at a later date) she became so svelte. Mine does wear an apron along with some old Christmas mercury beads as a necklace. My husband doesn't like her and my boys were afraid of her when they were little. Have fun with her!

  7. She might be a good reminder to keep your calories in check if you keep her near the kitchen! LOL! Thanks for sharing the peach crisp recipe. I often eat peaches at night as a healthy snack. Of course, a little whipped cream never hurt anything either. Although, don't ask your new mannequin that question.

  8. I saw your lovely lady at Sweet. Glad she found a good home. :)

  9. OK WOW!!! I love her, I'm not sure I could pull her off in my home but she is fantastic. That peach crisp looks delicious. I may have to pick up some peaches from the farmers market this weekend.
    Have a great week!

  10. So FUN! Don't ya love it when you find something that you just have to have, but no one else can understand exactly why?! That is one large dress form...and quite the conversation starter! Enjoy your treasure!

  11. Hi Dorie
She really is too cute. The peach crumble is making me hungry

  12. OH- I LOVE HER!!! I think her beautiful 'roundness' is what makes her so perfect... wouldn't change a thing. This is what a REAL woman looks like! Treasure her.
