Exposed!!..... :)

So yesterday afternoon, the hubby and I were just sittin around bored. Reeeally bored.
Then we got to thinkin....
How cool would it look to expose the original wood walls that had been
covered up for forever??

So we moved furniture.....

And got to it!!

The original walls had been covered over with sheetrock.
I knowww!! What in the worrrrld!
I won't go into the shame of covering a board and batten house with stucco!!!
Uh huh. That's this house:(

Aaaanyway.... look at that beauty!!

All we did was remove the sinful sheetrock, wipe that fab wall down with
a damp rag, and let all that beauty come on back:)

Now I need to deal with that boob light....... :(

This house has surprises around every corner. And in walls.
And in ceilings!! Juuust look what the hubby found after cutting
a hole in the ceiling!!!
Beautiful beadboard ceilings that some yahoo- wait for it....
COVERED OVER.
I. just. don't. get. it??!!!

Reclaimin' it.... :)

Awww! What an awesome blurry pic Dorie!!
I wish I could say that I totally meant to do that to enhance the ugliness but
sadly....I didn't. It's just my pre- shoot fly shoot photo skills and
the only pic I had of the mess that found
it's way to my dining table every. stinkin. day:(
Seriously. We would eat our meals around all this techno crap.

Then came Sunday, and I'd had it with that nonsense!
I decided to carve out a little space for a desk where our two fab
recliners sit.

I moved one recliner to the other side of the couch and brought out
this little sweet desk that I had in the guest bedroom.

Went and did a little shopping in the garage and found these
most cutest of shutters (that I used for a headboard in DP) and hung them
on the sides of the window.
Hello COLOR!! (and my fav at that!)

Our house sits on our lot waay to one side, and oddly close to our neighbor (who I love btw:)
So I hung this picture to kinda add a little privacy:)
Ok, and for cuteness too!
The little table under the window houses the printer:)

And HELLO!! I get my table back!!

Ok, how cute are these dish towels I found at Target for $2.99!
They had others that had strawberries on them and others with asparagus! Sooo cute!!
The water glasses are from FOUND:) and my mama made me the placemats:)

While taking these pics, I noticed the resident photo bomber....

Oh my goodness his face makes me want to eat pancakes!
Did that make any sense to anyone? Anyone??

Ups and downs....:)

Oooooh boy! We finally are officially and legally the proud owners of our dream house.
Long story- owner wanted to do a 1031 land exchange and wanted us to
wait on actually purchasing the house till he was ready. So we rented from him. Then the house didn't appraise...blah blah blah...
But we were NOT going to give up on this ole gal!
So finally on Thursday afternoon, she became ours:)
And by Thursday night we were doing this....

Bye bye nasty dirty carpet!! We always wondered how the stairs actually returned into the house.
You see this house was made into two separate apartments. The downstairs being one and the upstairs another.
The door to the left of the front door leads to the upstairs:)

Tricky! Underneath the carpet was some real cool handiwork!

Problem solved! The second to the last stair has this cute angle
that makes the return into the house!

The door on the left is the door that leads to the inside of the house.
It had been closed and locked since 1975!
The brown door is the front door of the upstairs apartment
that opens to the front porch.
That will become a window:)
But holy beautiful green original painted stairs huh?!
This house was MEANT to be mine!!
I'm really thinking of leaving them in all their chippy glory:)

Theeen, off to the Pasadena Flea Market on Sunday.
Holy unbearable hot weather batman!!
(you gotta love this pic with that lady's arm coming out of my head!!)
It was sooo hot and sticky I couldn't think. Or shop:(
I did however run into my pal Christian and bought a fab bag made
out of an old grain sack that I forgot to take a pic of!

The sweet hubby that he is, took me to this magical place in Huntington Beach.

Uh huh. Flip flop goodness for days.
They really are the best in flippy flops:)
Rio didn't believe me.
Till now. She's hooked:)

Design your own. Yes please! White with green straps
topped with a green rhinestone:)

Oh, and I'll just mention that it's 9:30 and I'm
blogging from Starb's. The wi fi at the beach house we're
stayin at aint so fab:(
(yes, that's Rio's eyebrow totally photobombing my pic:)

So that's the ups and downs for the week!
All ups really:)
We'll be sadly saying goodbye to the beach on Thurs, but happily saying
hello to our house and hammers that await us at home!!

Happy mama's day..... :)

Oh man I love these babies. Yep, I still call them my babies.
 Learned that from my mama:)
They make me laugh, and they make me cry.
I can't imagine my crazy life without these two:)

The baby. I reeeally try to not play favorites, I really do!
But honestly, I couldn't ask for a better 7 year old.
He doesn't cry. He naps all day. He eats whatever I give him, and that face!
I could take a bite outta him:)
I learned that biting thing from my mama too:)

And here's my mama. How adorable is she??
I love her. EVERYBODY loves her:)
I've learned soo much from this amazing lady:)
Like-
Keep a clean house. You never know who (maybe Jesus) might come for a visit:)
NEVER show up to your man's place of work looking like a slob. NEVER. EVER!!
Love your babies forever. no. matter. what.
Never leave the house without looking your best. You never know
who you might see! (okay, I heard this my whole life, and lo and behold I met my hubby whilst wearing sweat pants dropping my sis off at McDonald's. Oh the horrors!!)
Jesus has a plan for your life. Believe it. Trust it.
Don't buy real houseplants if you're just going to kill them.
Use real butter. Drink real coke.
aaaand......USE YOUR CHINA!!

My mom's favorite color in all the land is blue.
How cute are these Ball jars!!

They're not that vintage blue color, they're more turquoisy.
I love them, and my mama will too!

I figure she can use them for drinking glasses, or vases
or for making all her babies some salsa:)

A very Happy Mother's Day to you!
I will be spending my day
perusing the goodies at the Rose Bowl Flea Market
in Pasadena, CA. It don't get much better than that!!
