Happy mama's day..... :)

Oh man I love these babies. Yep, I still call them my babies.
 Learned that from my mama:)
They make me laugh, and they make me cry.
I can't imagine my crazy life without these two:)
The baby. I reeeally try to not play favorites, I really do!
But honestly, I couldn't ask for a better 7 year old.
He doesn't cry. He naps all day. He eats whatever I give him, and that face!
I could take a bite outta him:)
I learned that biting thing from my mama too:)
And here's my mama. How adorable is she??
I love her. EVERYBODY loves her:)
I've learned soo much from this amazing lady:)
Keep a clean house. You never know who (maybe Jesus) might come for a visit:)
NEVER show up to your man's place of work looking like a slob. NEVER. EVER!!
Love your babies forever. no. matter. what.
Never leave the house without looking your best. You never know
who you might see! (okay, I heard this my whole life, and lo and behold I met my hubby whilst wearing sweat pants dropping my sis off at McDonald's. Oh the horrors!!)
Jesus has a plan for your life. Believe it. Trust it.
Don't buy real houseplants if you're just going to kill them.
Use real butter. Drink real coke.
aaaand......USE YOUR CHINA!!
My mom's favorite color in all the land is blue.
How cute are these Ball jars!!
They're not that vintage blue color, they're more turquoisy.
I love them, and my mama will too!
I figure she can use them for drinking glasses, or vases
or for making all her babies some salsa:)
A very Happy Mother's Day to you!
I will be spending my day
perusing the goodies at the Rose Bowl Flea Market
in Pasadena, CA. It don't get much better than that!!

  1. I can already tell I'd love your mom. :)

    Happy Mother's Day to you!

  2. Adorable family...Happy Mother's Day!

  3. Have a wonderful Mother's Day, Dorie! Happy hunting!

  4. sweetest mamas, both of you! :)

  5. I like the idea of using the Ball jars for salsa. I love your mom too Alice Gibson

  6. WOW.... your daughter looks alot like you. Pretty. Love the Ball jars :)

  7. Your mama is so cute! Sweet post. love the jars.

  8. I am running to the store ASAP to buy those blue jars!! How fun! I love your Mama's wisdom, especially the part about using your china. I should do more of that! Please, please, please post lots of photos of the Flea Market! Pasadena is one of my all time favorite old house places and my dream is to spend a dreamy morning at the Rose Bowl Flea Market! I am your favorite color of envy!

  9. Even through the internet you can tell all three of your kids are loved, just as you are by your mama. You know, the advice seems simple, but it's really all about loving yourself enough to care. It's about self-esteem. It's about a mama telling her children that you are special, so treat yourself well. It matters. I think it's easy to see that what makes your blog so special is, of course, your delightful sense of style, but I think it's also your close family bonds. Love of family permeates your writing, Dorie. Tell your mother congratulations on a job well done and Happy Mothers' Day to you both!

  10. I love the blue jars as well and ordered a box of them from Amazon. I am going to put some white daisies in them for summer. Happy Mother's Day to you and your mom.

  11. You have a beautiful family! I include my dog as part of my family too. I love what you did with the blue jars. So pretty. Sometimes it's the simple things that are the prettiest. Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day this weekend!

  12. Very wise words to live by and great advice! LOL about never leaving the house looking your best. I ran into a movie star, Oded Fehr, TWICE at the antique mall I sell at. Both times I looked horrible! tee hee.

Your momma and your babies are beautiful, little Bully, too. And yes, them thar canning jars are fab! Me thinks I will haveta get me some.

Have fun shopping in Pasadena! Will be a warm one!
