So after I awoke from my Home Tour induced coma on Sunday, I realized Valentine's Day is just a few weeks away. I don't have much in the way of decorations, maybe because the whole red/pink thing could make me crazy reeeal quick. Luckily as of today, I will only have to deal with it for a mere 15 days:)
I found these cute felt button hearts at JoAnn, and I just strung twine through them and then wrapped them around a jar filled with sixlets candy:) I love that pic of my babies, when they were babies... :( sniff sniff....
Had this little ceramic house forever, card made by my sweet niece:)
Then I decided to get my craft on:) Here are the materials you'll need if you want to craft along with me:)
About 1yd. of felt (I used white, but pink or red would be cute too)
1 foam heart (I got mine at JoAnn)
Scissors
Pins
And yes, chocolate. My sis gags that I like 3 Musketeers. Honestly, I can only eat half of it before my brain freaks out on the mystery that is "nougat". Anyway, whatever your sugar of choice is, you'll need it.
I used a glass that was a little over 3" wide as my template.
Start cutting about a million circles. Eat some sugar, then cut out a million more. I don't exactly know how many I cut, but it was almost the entire yd of felt. **to make it quicker, I doubled my felt and cut 2 at a time:) I'm so smart:)
Then take your circle and fold it in half, then in half again.
Then stick a straight pin through the bottom of the flower into the foam heart. (yikes!someone needs a manicure!)
Continue doing this for what seems like 7 years. Really it took me one episode of Hoarders:)
Tie with a big ole beauty of a ribbon....
And DONE!!
Every day should be Happy Heart day doncha think?

Dorie, I love your sense of humor, as well as the decorations and the craft! I'm not big into Valentines' Day decorations at all. I may own a red vase, but that's about it. I think I will try this heart though. I'm thinking I can use it for another special occasion, like an anniversary, too. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDorie, Thanks for opening your home on Saturday! I am totally inspired by all the lovliness.

ReplyDelete2 of my girlfriends came over last night and we made your wreath. We also made ones with old sheet music. They came out really cute. We had wine instead of chocolate though. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I found heart forms at Hobby Lobby, can't guarantee there are any more in the valley..I went to 3 store and got 7 hearts! Can we all say "obsessed"...or crazy may be a better word.
