Red Pepper Pasta... :)

Mama's don't let yer babies grow up to be cowboys...
No. LET 'em be cowboys! Cowboys are hot.
I'm thinkin more like.... Mama's don't let yer babies grow up and
This here is my baby boy Ryne:)
And here's where he asked... what's for lunch?
And here's where I said...whatever you make!!
I always say...a girl LOVES a guy that can make
himself some food...can I get an Amen??

So here's yesterdays lesson-
This Pioneer Woman recipe is super fast and
easy and anybody (boys included) can cook it:)
Chop up a half of an onion and a jar of roasted red peppers.
Melt some butter and olive oil in a pan.

Throw in the onions and garlic for a bit, then add the peppers and sauté
 until the onions are translucent.

Puree that loveliness in a food processor or blender.

Add a little butter and return the puree back to the pan.
Here's where I forgot to mention the part about
the blade not being attached...

Add some absolutely-delicious-I-can't-live-without-it
heavy whipping cream..

And a bit of chicken broth to thin the sauce.

While that's all warming up- drop your pasta...like it's hot:)
Rio stopped by and I thought- hey! let me get a few adorable pics of you two!
And by adorable I mean both smiling perfectly at the camera...
yeah, never happens. Never ever.
 Back to the yumminess...
when the pasta is done just toss it together with the sauce and
add some parm shavings.
If I had some fresh chopped basil to sprinkle on top
that would have just been perfection...
Done and done!!

  1. This looks delish- and I agree on the Cowboy comment ;) My kids are all self sufficient- they cook, do their own laundry, and know how to clean a bathroom. Sara started sorting her own clothes at the age of two. Great way to learn colours, and elapsed time :) Can't wait to try this dish- or maybe I'll have the kids make it!

  2. The pasta looks delicious and I love all the pictures! It looks like you are enjoying your new kitchen with your family like it's meant to be used. Cheers - CT

  3. I love this recipe and have made many times mine calls for 1lb. of shrimp, so yummy. Just wanted to tell you I have stove envy! We are starting the process of redoing my kitchen and I can't :-( have a beautiful stove like you. I only have electricity but I am getting a Viking all electric range. Love your house and your blog. Happy Tuesday!

    1. Oooh, the shrimp sounds tasty!! And you're going to LOVE your Viking!

  4. Oh my, that looks so delicious! I love the happy photographs, they are awesome!

  5. Looks like Rio knew just the right time to show up for lunch! LOL! That dish looks good. I've heard good things about The Pioneer Womans cookbook. I was pleased to see that your son didn't choose a frilly apron from your stash too. Afterall, he is a cowboy!

  6. That looks yummy!!! Love the photos!! Looks like a lot of fun!! Made me smile!!! Question.... How large is that chalkboard?? Did you make it or purchase?? Love the cute green bench too!!

    1. Hello Lisa Marie!
The chalkboard is about 4ft. wide and 3 1/2 ft. tall. I bought it at FOUND in Mesa. They still have them, they are $240. The green bench I found in Rountop, Texax- it's an oldie.

  7. Your kids are freakin' beautiful! ...just an observation. : )

    1. Why thank you Kathy! I think they're kinda adorable too... :)

  8. I'm all for teaching them how to cook. Believe me it pays off when they get married and have you over for dinner. What a gorgeous family you have and I am happy to be a new follower. xo Laura

  9. Amen!
    Great blog, Dorie!

  10. Sounds delicious, and my boy does all of his cooking, and he prefers it over eating out. Yep, girls do like a boy that can cook.

  11. Boys that cook are the bomb! My brother and my husband are GREAT cooks, great for me and my SIL. That last picture is hilarious.

  12. I love a man that can cook......now I have to try this recipe! Yum
