Make new friends..... :)

Moving from my hometown has been quite the adjustment for me.
You see I lived all my life in the same city.
Like I was born there.
I felt like I knew everybody!!
So woah, when I moved here to Carp and suddenly realized
I didn't know a soul, it kinda freaked me out!!

I mean I was just days away from standing on
Carp Ave. holding this very sign people...

In an effort so save herself from total embarrassment
and having to disown her mother,
Rio came up with the bestest idea-

A once a month get together where we can meet the ladies
of Carp, drink some wine, eat sweets and.....GET OUR CRAFT ON!!

I hate that idea...
SAID NO WOMAN EVER!!!

So we put it out there and we waited....

And whaddya know? They came!!
We made pom pom heart wreaths..

Drank wine and ate sweets....

And made a L-O-V-E banner:)

It was sooo much fun!! There was laughter, chatter and a whole
lot of creativity. But the best part?
New friends:)

  2. Oh how I wish I could join y'all for the Feb and March 20 classes. Cali may be just a smidge too far for me to drive from Alabama!

    1. I'm going to pop in and finally see your face tomorrow! I went today and picked up the sweetest wood "love" heart! Oh, and I bought that fabulous Winslow Health & Hygiene series piece of art at the register. Winslow was my grandma's maiden name! Cool eh?

  8. This is my first time commenting, but I just have to today. I found Dorie on a search of Sugar Pine cone baking (I live in South Lake Tahoe and that is a favorite thing to do). Anyway, the Make New Friends song, which we all learned in Girl Scouts, is still one of my favorites. We must all be about the same age, which cracks me up.

Thank you Dorie for your great ideas, creativity and trips down Memory Lane. Fun stuff. It's just a bummer I have to wait a week for the next issue!

  9. Crafting was a brilliant idea and way to have fun and meet people. I find I meet people in church when I join a small group there, like women's Bible study. Our church offers the full range of groups from Celebrate Recovery to MOPS to Grief Share and more.

    1. Hi Terra! You're so right! I joined a bible study here and we did the Beth Moore Children of the Day study. It was fantastic! We are just getting started tomorrow on the Ann Graham Lotz Pursuing More of Jesus study:) Ladies and the Lord, perfect combo right?

  10. This was a good move on your part. We can't just sit back and wait for people to come to us, we need to reach out. Our church has a monthly women's craft day that starts at 9:00 AM on a Saturday. We have a devotional and break for lunch, then continue on until 3:00. It's a wonderful time of fun and fellowship, and we get a lot done on our projects, too. I treasure those times with my sisters in Christ.

  13. I just found your blog from a few clicks.. I don't even remember where I started... just looking at decorating blogs and clicked over. I know this is an older post... but I think you live by me... I am in Thousand Oaks not too far from Carp. I'm crafty too... well I dream more about the projects I want to make than I actually do, but I think that still counts. LOL. Anyway, my blog is not active but you can click over an see my house if you want. Marcy :)
